Bumpit: Wear it or Dump it?

What's up with this Bumpit craze? Many bloggers, hairstylists, and fashion critics seem to have mixed opinions about the Bumpit and whether or not it works. If you have yet to see one, it's a comb with an arch that helps give you volume in the crown. Originally seen on TV, they're usually around $10.00 and are available at various stores. With the Bumpit, the claim is that it's supposed to be much easier to style your hair in a bouffant i.e. the "bump" or other styles that require volume.
Per the request of a bridesmaid, I used a Bumpit in a specialty style Saturday. The Bumpit didn't give me as much grief as the bridesmaid to be honest! My only complaint would be that it didn't quite give as much volume as I usually prefer when I back comb the hair and spray on layers of freeze spray, but for someone who's not a hairstylist, I think the Bumpit is a good tool to use.

When hairstylists do runway hair, they use items such as foam objects and stuffed pantyhose to create more volume in the hair, which is basically what a Bumpit does. So, I recommend trying this product. My final advice would be to go to your hairstylist and have them teach you how to use one the next time you get your hair cut.
